Pricing of Funerals
A General Price List is required to be given to persons making funeral arrangements. On this price list, funeral homes must itemize their services using disclosures that are worded exactly as specified in the law.
To make it a little easier to calculate the total costs as people are deciding on funeral arrangements, R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home and Berceuse Funeral And Cremation Traditions have added several combinations of services to their General Price List. These different services, grouped into choices many surviving family members make, are intended to help by showing what would usually be selected for that particular funeral service or memorial service. Complete Ceremonial Service
The complete ceremonial service includes the services of the funeral director and staff, transfer of remains to the funeral home within 25 miles, embalming, other preparation of the body, use of facilities for viewing and funeral ceremony or services in another facility and automotive equipment within 25 miles. Limousine to be added if used. The casket, vault and other merchandise selected by you will be added to the price, plus cash advanced to others and State Sales Tax.
Ceremonial Service at the Graveside
The ceremonial service at the graveside is the same as above with the ceremony at the graveside only and no procession. A limousine charge will be added if used. The casket, vault and other merchandise selected by you will be added to the price, plus cash advanced to others and State Sales Tax.
Ceremonial Service Followed by Cremation
The ceremonial service followed by cremation includes the services of the funeral director and staff, transfer of remains to the funeral home within 25 miles, embalming, other preparation of the body, use of facilities for viewing and funeral ceremony or services in another facility, automotive equipment within 25 miles, cremation costs and necessary authorizations. A limousine charge will be added if used. The casket, urn and/or urn vault and cremation container, if desired, and other merchandise selected by you will be added to the price, as well as cash advanced to others and State Sales Tax.
Cremation, With A Ceremonial Service At The Funeral Home Or Church
Cremation with a ceremonial service following includes the services of the funeral director and staff, transfer of the remains to the funeral home within 25 miles, funeral services at the funeral home chapel or church or other place and sedan and utility vehicle within 25 miles, transportation to the crematory, cremation costs and necessary authorizations. The limousine charge will be added, if used. Use of the facilities to receive friends will be added, if used. The urn selected by you and other merchandise, such as urn vault will be added to the price as well as cash advanced to others and State Sales Tax.
Funeral Home costs include:
Services, facilities and motor vehicles of the funeral home
Merchandise, such as:
- Caskets and urns
- Outer burial containers (vaults)
- Book for friends to sign
- Thank you cards
- Grave markers
Other funeral costs may include:
Cemetery costs, such as:
- Grave space
- Opening and closing grave
Also:
- Flowers for top of casket or other
- Death certificate copies
- Obituary costs
- Honoraria for clergy and others
- Crematory costs
- Sales tax on merchandise
- Others, such as airlines, out of town obituary, etc.
Your Funeral Director
Funeral directors are available to help even after the funeral services are completed. If the family desires, the funeral home will assist in obtaining, completing, and filling out the necessary forms for claiming life insurance benefits, Social Security payments, veteran’s benefits and any other funds to which the family may be entitled.
Other special problems may arise in which the funeral director can be of assistance. Although a problem may be totally unfamiliar to the family, the funeral director is trained to provide answers and assistance.
